With all the
Banksy made this strong art statement on The UK's Brexit vote. A Brexit inspired mural showing a worker chipping away at a star on the EU flag first appeared in Dover in May 2017, illustrating the UK’s upcoming departure from the European Union. The Banksy Brexit flag artwork emerged overnight, using the wall as his canvas, on the Castle Amusements building near the ferry terminal, the main connection between the UK with mainland Europe.
Banksy Brexit has become a symbol of the feelings that many people in the UK have towards the Brexit vote and the UK's departure from the EU.
Banksy had the plan to change the wall mural after the UK's exit to show only the chiseled star left on the wall with the blue flag dropped on the ground at the base of the painting. This never happened because the extra large art piece was whitewashed in white paint. As Banksy said,
"I guess a big white flag says it just as well."
Everyone at Banksy Canvas thinks this should have been left as a historical reminder of an important part of the UK's history.
